Guy at our office had this exact bike, and you're right about the build quality. The hinge stretched/loosened and when he tried to get hold a replacement, I believe the manufacturer has now gone out of business. Had a coaster brake too! Still, props for the genuine Skyways...

It's ugly and enormous.
It doesn't have any real benefits that I can see due to the large folded size. Not for me I'm afraid.

I love my folding fixed, it came with a kick-stand.

Is Fubi an acronym, a bit like FUBAR?

Fucked up beyond imagination?

Any hinge like that, be it's Dahon, Kansi, Raleigh, whatever is always the weakest part of those design.
I can't believed they're still building them like that.

That's lovely. How much did it cost to get it to that?

BMX wheel, old pedals, old crank/bb, old bar/grips..
New chain. Not much after the purchase price.
At the time I had to use a lot of public transport, would have got a Brompton but they don't fix easy.
Had a Dura-Ace hub-set for it but unfortunately the front OLN is 78mm..

Which model is it? Their site has loads listed, but I can't work out which one it's derived from...

Not sure if it was worth the price (£399.00) but it is what I needed at the time (2016 model is £$€¥₩).
Light enough except for a dumb seatpole pump I haven't replaced (like who would ever use it?).
Threw out the folding pedals. -

No, not mine. Someone (can't remember who) on this forum built it though. I liked their thread, and bike looked like it could be fun to ride!

I built a dahon that was for scrap (obviously...) into fixed gear, yes it is fun, but the filing is crap. For a reliable compact folding bike, it has to have max 20"wheels or less, if you ride small sizes on fixed you loose all the inertia of the wheel, that i find quite important. Also because the folding nature of the bike, the geometry of this bikes tends to be very upright and the rider weight very unbalanced, having all wight on the back wheel, wich i find also really uncomfortable for fixed.
so basically I guess it's possible to make something nice, but you need some time for design and development.
what I see here is a normal bike with hinges, that probably for this guys of 1' world war https://bsamuseum.wordpress.com/page-5/ it was an improvement, but i don't think it is now a days. -

Been tempted by this lately, it's heavy and barely folds but has rear facing 120mm dropouts which makes it fun.
