It's maybe not aesthetically pleasing, but probably more effective when it's close to the tire like that.

I do have the option of mounting the guard on the front of the fork, so that will move it up a bit, going to try that before i do anything too drastic.

Probably been covered to death, but what's the consensus on 'guards that fit under a close clearance brake calliper'? My SKS raceblade longs finally fell apart yesterday and I need some new ones. I'd had to bodge the little metal bit to go over the top of the calliper and it eventually sheared off, thankfully they're made of such crap plastic that it didn't take my rear wheel with it when it came off.
Road.cc recommends the Giant ones - does anyone have any experience? I'd rather not by Raceblade Longs again as, for one, I reckon they're a bit pricy for what they are.

Could you just cut them in around the caliper with a coping saw / dremel?
-
• #2206
Had considered it, but worried about strength once cut. Might just have a bash nothing to lose at the price I paid really.

What mudguard flaps do people add on to chromoplastics?
-

Anything you can drill holes into.

Brompton mud flap is cheap and cheerful.

Fitted 700x40 Clement X'PLOR MSO's on H+Son Archetypes under SKS p45 Longboards on my Space Horse. The front only rubs when out of the saddle accelerating and the stays flex.

Does anyone know where one might source these? SJS don't stock them anymore. There's a Portland company does them but they're $15 and in Portland.

Any chance of seeing more of the Horse?

I bought one in Condor Cycles a couple of weeks ago, they stock PDW stuff.

Bodged my own 'reacharound'. Tested it on a crappy old guard I had and it's ugly, but it seems pretty solid.

It seems so stupid to do this at all, considering I have a 'winter' bike but moving house in a week to somewhere without a garage so having to cut down significantly. :'(

Hard times, I feel blessed to have a basement and shed.
Then again, we have six months of winter. -

I've had a double garage for the past 18 months, but having to sacrifice that for an extra bedroom in the new house. Room inside for my track and road bike ^ but only outdoor room for anything else. Actual winter bike is going to my dad's on long term loan I think. It's nearly spring here. Not quite time to be the guy without mudguards on a club ride though.

Pompino, 35mm slicks, what fancy mudguards? Gilles Berthoud 50mm?
-
• #2224
That's what I'd get. 35% off at PX at the moment too

Are there any nice looking (metal?) mudguards for 42/43mm 700c tyres? It's for my Straggler so there's loads of room.
I really don't want to go back to 35mm tyres just for mudguards!
fitted some veloorange hammered to my cross check, quite impressed with the quality of them. Not happy with how the mud flap sits, will likely take it off, or adjust it.
Crappy photo in the basement, there's about 3ft of snow outside so this will have to do!
