  • ^ good frame for suuuper cheap....

  • Sooooooooo tempted... Downside is lack of 29er parts... I'd probably end up spending 5x as much on some 140mm forks... I could run my gravel bike wheels on it?

  • Honzos usually come with 120mm forks, so for about £70 you could always fit a longer rigid fork like the 483mm Surly Krampus one.

  • Just finished, 1996 GT avalanche. Total costs are about 100 euros, 60 for the bike, 20 for the conversion and 20 for cables / new brake blocks. Bought a tensioner but didn't need it in the end as my chain was tight enough without it. Next upgrade are some slicks, big flat pedals, shorter stem and riser bars because it's a bit too small.

  • Hack Bike Derby had a fair few SSMTBs the other week by the looks of things.

  • Good candidate for these bars?

  • Yeah might try a bend bar out sometime. Have been looking at a salsa bend3 but not sure if i like how that steers. Pretty used tot my risers tbh

  • ive got a pair of marys if you fancy @DQS? but I would say (for me at least) they are far closer to porteur style/functional bike than mtb riding....the fleegles are wider and have less sweep but gusset stash are the way too go i think....

  • Thanks but i keep he setup as it is for now, invested quite some in this bike already. Here is a better photo of he cockpit as it is setup now. Rather try a 720mm flat with like 5mm rise or something i think that might climb a little better.

  • I could probably use these for my partner's bike if DQS doesn't need.

  • yeah, 5er? they are white unfortunately, but never actually been used

  • sounds good, i got sent some nukeproof "risers" by mistake recently and they basically had no rise. cheep on the chain reaction website. i regret not buying one of those haros for 200bin on ebay a year or so ago. should have pulled the trigger!

  • Will check with her but I think so! I'll shoot you a PM.

  • The bike as i have it build up had cost me about €600, but i chose to build it with 'premium' parts. I guess you can build a very nice haro for around 300 if you manage to find a decent frame.

  • Defo an SSMTB kinda day, crispy ground along the river path, spinning like a clueless nodder to keep warm on the road sections. Happy riding folks.

  • thames to thames on the regents canal is the challenge for today
    ssmtb of course !
    looks lovely out there
watch out for the frozen puddles in the shade though

  • Already looking forward to being out on the 1x1 this weekend, hopefully make it out early and get a few good hours in before everywhere gets busy...

  • Before...

    ...during...

    ...and after today's ride.

  • looks very similar to jyd, bar the wheel size

  • Wheel size, discs and suspension corrected. 3 pretty major things. I really want one.

Now who's going to buy my JYD?
