The only reason I'm actually considering the hideous things is hand/arm fatigue during a 2-3 week race with mega descents. Read lots of TransAm reports about people struggling to even change gears by the end of it.
Discs also self adjust, so saves you having to adjust. Also they last for ever, so no need to change pads.
Basically one less thing to worry about.
Even Mike managed to stay on the same pads for the entire circumnavigation of the globe.
