• I've been collecting records / vinyls for some time now. Mainly because I like the artwork on them and the history. I figure I might as well play them now.
I've got a Yamaha revciever that is 5.1, so I'm looking for a entry level record player that can plug into my system. Doing some research I know it will need a built in pre amp but I'd like some opinions on what to get.

Preferably black and one that does not come in a carry case.

    Cheers

  • Hifi wonks might not approve, but something like this Sony could be all you need for your existing system, especially if you don't have many records.

Rega's RP1 is probably where entry-level turntables with serious hifi aspirations really begin, though you'll need a phono stage for it.

  • It's probably worth stretching to the Performance Pack RP1.

  • I had seen the regas before and it does look seriously nice! Would suit my other equipment. I've seen them for about £250 unless you guys have seen it cheaper.
I have around 50 records now. So I have enough to play. I like the sound of one with a built in preamp though as it's just easy and the Sony one has one.
