Looking to get back in the game after my sabbatical. Having sold the majority of my stuff time to start again. Got a real job now so potentially looking at the cycle2work scheme. What is out there you good guys can let me consider? Main use commuting for now
Most bikes will work for commuting, as shown by the people on squeaky MTBs every morning. Outside of that it depends. Fixed, singlespeed, gears ? Flat bars, drop bars ? Can fit mudguards and/or rack ? Price range ? Perhaps most importantly, which bikes do you like the look of the most ?

No framesets :(
-
• #430
There was talk of a super small number of framesets...
-
• #431
What are you meant to do on one of those? Invade Canada?
-
• #432
it's much more enjoyable when you have 2.1 rubbers instead of skinny 35mm CX tyres.

I think I can see braze-ons for bear canisters on the forks.
(oops, reply to andyp...)

If you can forgo the 27.5+ wheel in the rear then a Genesis Vagabond with a custom fork would probably still be less.
-
• #435
Yeah I kinda like the Vagabond but its purple and green?
Anyway, I think I'm more drawn to the 26" Ravn rando-something rather than Ulv.

• #436
Expected RRP on the Ravn?
-
• #437
Think complete's are $2999
-
• #438
Yep, plus shipping and import tax!
edit: probably works out around 3 grand unless Rawland have a UK distributor.

Hubjub mentions contacting them for pre order list http://hubjub.co.uk/index.php/blog/rawlands-history

Interesting, will have to keep my eye on that. Although I have a self-imposed embargo on new bikes until I can get my shed roof re-built.

For the record: recently bought a Charge Plug 0, advertised as having a drilled rear drop out. Turned out that mine didn't. Entered into correspondence with Charge; eventually they checked some more bikes and admitted that someone seems to have forgotten about drilling the holes.
I was advised to use P clips and come back for the 2017 bike which will have holes added.

Surly the solution is to take it to a shop and have holes drilled and ask them to cover the cost.
-
• #446
Especially when it's made of steel.
Or send it back and get the Charge Plug 1 instead.

Just swung me leg over a Cervelo R2, which is an R3 with a different fork. Is right good value.
Really really solid bike for the money. Wheels, saddle and cranks will get swapped out straight away but other than that, pretty good deal. What a coincidence that my Cycle Scheme renews next month :-) -

Where do the mudguards go?
-

Tis lovely, can take 32c easily apparently! I'd not even bother with wheels and cranks tbh. Do it.
Rawland Ravn and ULV photos released.
