For those that don't yet have me on ignore: roof racks. What's a good option? Would like to carry two bikes.
Also, anyone care to place bets on how long it is before I forget they're up there and try to park in my building's covered car park?

Two weeks.
The Seasucker Mini Bomber might be a good option.

Cripes. Do they really stay on?!

I thought the Corsa had that rear mounted bike rack?

Just don't forget they are on the roof.

I bought all the Thule parts I needed second hand off EBay for a grand total of £60.
You can find online somewhere the product numbers for the three parts you need (bars, footpack and fitting kit) and should be able to do it for cheap as well.
I was recommended the Elite San Remo bike carrier to go on there - it doesn't feel like there's enough holding the bike on, but it's not fallen off yet.

I looked into this recently and went for tow-ball mounted, however if you don't have a tow-ball this is not so helpful.
Very difficult to drive into a multi-storey and wreck the bikes when they are behind the car however.

Found out my Gran had empty garage space in London... One phone call later and I had the keys so it's time for a project.
Cheap as chips 1976 leyland mini 850 with a fair bit of rust on it. Went to view it and most of the major bits including subs and sills were solid so I went for it.
Lucky I can weld, going to try and do all the work myself to see if I can manage.
Much excitement.

Look at what the boys at Bad Obsession Motorsport have done with their Mini.

Anyone experience with nokian zine tyres? Think they have only just come out the past 6/9 months or so but seem to be highly rated for wet and damp conditions (Scotland)
Just about done with a set of uniryoyal rainsport 3s
They've been great, but feck have they worn fast, volvo has demolished them in 12k -

Only the rich can afford cheap tyres.

Been watching that for ages, bloody love it.
I'd quite like to do an engine swap myself at some point but insurance would be an absolute nightmare at my age. A turbo'd Yamaha r1 engine in the front would be off the hook and not too hard to execute, even manage mechanical reverse gear with the Promotive gearbox.

Wait a few years before doing this tho, my insurance is the same price now (23) on a 2.5 turbo BMW as it was on a 1.1 litre golf when I was 17.
Much excite for ya project. Many rust tho ;)

Don't think ours has the built-in one: it's a 2012 model. Thule looks to be best bet. Solid and can take two bikes. Will find up details on what I need. The bit that holds the bike is universal I guess, as are the bars, but there's a bit that's unique to car models that attaches it all to the roof?

You'll be glad to know that you have my approval to do this, please

Seconded.

Blown the head gasket on my Clio. I've never actually had to get rid of a car like this before, I guess there isn't much of a market for parts from a 12 year old Clio?
Reckon some banger boys would take it away? Still moves but pretty... lumpy

can't you get it fixed? shouldn't be that much

You reckon? Mechanics were saying 7-800 quid
