  • Would anyone be able to recommend a lens for starting with action shots? I'm using a Canon 650d and would like to start taking pics at Crits, track events etc etc, and would like to invest in something that's easy on the wallet. Any suggestions, or even tips on what to look for?

  • If you'd be happy with a prime the Canon 50mm 1.8 is cheap and apparently very good. It'll allow you to use much faster shutter speeds wide open (not to mention much bokeh), and paired with the crop sensor on your 650d, will give you a 75mm equivalent length which will be good if you're a little further from the action.

Did you get a kit zoom lens?

Free, and probably the best option.

  • ..as thross and miro already said - kit zoom or the 50/1.8 are cheap and good.
As is the 40mm STM pancake or basically all of the new STM zoom lenses..
