Yes, I know. It may also be a troll and not be genuine. I would, however, caution against optimism. This sounds like a classic crash pattern between a bike rider and a pedestrian in which the pedestrian may well die as a result of hitting her head on the ground. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm very worried.

Sometimes I don't read a thread after a dumb comment on it... and thus I don't receive further notifications via email as the forum doesn't spam people (we only send an email for the first unread comment).

If the friend/relative is genuine then they will still be able to see the thread if it is made private.
Perhaps it would just be better to move the thread out of the Rider Down forum but still keep it public as some of the disclosure could be relevant.
Fingers crossed she makes a full recovery and that he learns to express some remorse.
