No experience with phone tracking and probably overkill for training but I have a SPOT if you need it for events or anything and they don't clash with my stupid riding plans :)

Oh I suppose, yes, London is a trial race. My understanding of the US selection process was that it all depends on this one race - you qualify for it and then if you come 1-2-3 you go to the olympics. Isn't the UK process a little more refined than that - ie you could have a bad London and still go to Rio? I could be totally wrong on this.
@PhilPub Interesting to see the prize money! I think it's a shame we don't have similar over here, it seems daft to have a few millionaire quorn-touting sportsmen and everyone else scrapping around for pennies. Another stupid question - who puts up the prize money for (eg) the US trials? -

Lee Merrien ( fellow Guernsey man, that's where the similarity ends) was first Brit in London but missed out on a 2012 Olympic place as he was a minute outside the qualifying time 2:12 (?) A facebook campaign persuaded the selectors to overturn their decision.

No worries. HH have a very good youth section from what I know, plus their vests are way more cool than ours. :)

I know this isn't a diet section, but I reckon the biggest quick performance gain I can make is to crash diet and lose 5 Kilos, so planning on a veg/ fruit juice only diet for a few days as an experiment. Will be a test of my will power at the very least.

Thanks for all the info on tracking everyone. Thinking draining phone battery options not ideal as would like to rely on phone for emergency calls (and regular scenic selfie tweets of course). Had thought about SPOT but agree may be overkill but perhaps better that than not.
Can I look at yours & chat about it over that beer I owe you for that Salsa stem @andy_k?

Used Garmin Live Tracking for a two hour run the other week, iPhone 5 battery was down to 90% when I got back. It was all along the Thames towpath (Putney to Chiswick and back) so good but not perfect reception the entire way. My Forerunner 920xt was providing the location data though, not the phone itself, which may help reduce battery drain.

My girlfriend just enabled the 'find my friend' thing on her iPhone when she did London a couple of years ago.
Phone battery didn't die (and she was listening to music at the same time, and took 5.5 hrs) and it meant we knew when to get ready to look out for her. -

I got some new shoes. Was using some old Brooks Adrenaline from a friend that were fine but a bit short of foot. The new Sauconys are kind of loose around my long skinny feet. After 8km today my feet were quite hot, I think due to sliding around every so slightly in the shoe. Does this sound possible? They're going back anyway.

Where did you buy from which allows returns after use?

Back on the market, ebay probably.

Speaking of phones, any recommendations for a lycra short with enough pocket space for a phone? They all seem to just have tiny wee key pockets.

@user49586 Guernsey Easter runs is one of my favourite weekends away. this year with relays on Herm/
holiday time
The Runkeeper pro account does it. Don't think it's too expensive (£25/ year or something) but I've never tried it.
