Oh I suppose, yes, London is a trial race. My understanding of the US selection process was that it all depends on this one race - you qualify for it and then if you come 1-2-3 you go to the olympics. Isn't the UK process a little more refined than that - ie you could have a bad London and still go to Rio? I could be totally wrong on this. @PhilPub Interesting to see the prize money! I think it's a shame we don't have similar over here, it seems daft to have a few millionaire quorn-touting sportsmen and everyone else scrapping around for pennies. Another stupid question - who puts up the prize money for (eg) the US trials?
Lee Merrien ( fellow Guernsey man, that's where the similarity ends) was first Brit in London but missed out on a 2012 Olympic place as he was a minute outside the qualifying time 2:12 (?) A facebook campaign persuaded the selectors to overturn their decision.
