Because headtube length isn't the best way to measure it, due to the difference in bottom bracket height and fork length.

Bike like the Datum for instance have a CX length fork, bike like the Domane have a near standard length fork, meaning you can't really compared the headtube length between those two model.

Best way to measure the height, is using the stack from the stack and reach measurment (the stack are much more accurate and able to fine-tune your handlebar position).

Road forks are generally about 365mm A-C, so if it's got a 395mm fork then that is indeed 30mm longer.

The Datum in 56cm is only 6mm lower than the Domane in 56cm despite having a shorter headtube (20mm).

This is why it's best not to simply relied on headtube length as they don't always quite measured out the same.

It's best to find out what the stack is on your current bike plus spacers, and then use that measurment to find a much more accurately fitted frame than just the headtube, you can able to dial the fit in millimetres.

BTW, it's not just road fork, but the bottom bracket drop, abet a small difference, but a difference nonetheless (standard are 68mm, but they varies at least 5mm-/+).

For what it's worth I can answer a few of your questions.

The Diverge frame is not available in the U.K. It's not on the B2B and you can't get one special ordered because the U.S. is already working on 2017 forward orders. This is what they've just told me on the phone from head office, it might be a different answer if we call our rep but the short answer is no without some ball ache.

With regards to fit, I am riding a 56 cm tarmac with one 5 mm spacer and a 130 stem. On a 56 Roubaix I had a 130 -17 and a filed down top cap. My Diverge is a 56 cm, no spacers, standard top cap with a 120 mm -17, I ended up having to run a 10 mm shorter stem to take into account for how long the hydraulic shifters are. Even though the reach/stack/headtube/bb drop measurements look different on paper it rides very well on the road, I have done probably in excess of 6000 miles on that bike last year and it's very easy to switch between that and the Tarmac. Unlike switching between that and my Domane where you notice the handling difference immediately because the rear end is longer on the model I have.

Ps. I haven't ready far enough back through the thread to see which frame size you're looking for but if you're considering a S-Works Tarmac disc we have some modules in stock that I can do a really good price on at the moment.

Be wary of the odd rear spacing on the Tarmac Disc that use a proprietary hub.

It's the same on the Diverge.

Also in the real world it makes very little difference to your life. No where near the fuss that everyone created, and if you don't want the benefits of SCS, just use the other mech hanger that's included with every SCS bike.
