Mine has a (very good) DAC attached and functions as an AirPlay receiver. Sound in via AirPlay/out thru rca into the Pioneer. Sounds fantastic. I used it to stream Spotify.
Issues: network struggled a bit wirelessly, so I hard wired it to the router. I have a new router but haven't tried it yet. Main issue is watching telly (Netflix etc) on the iMac has a delay in sound thru AirPlay. Unavoidable, so I have just put the audio straight to the amp.
I haven't tried, but the best way is to use it via a hard drive, using voluminous,,etc. The app to control it via iPad is easy to use.
It is sitting here doing nothing, if you want to try. It sounds amazing.
