• Hmm.

Well on a side note (not sure if you're aware) - to manually rewind the camera, you have to

    • slide open (turn on) the camera
    • hold down the rewind button for three seconds (rewind symbol appears in display)
    • while holding down rewind button also press the shutter button

Haven't heard of ones rewinding mid-roll by themselves..
..read a comment on that JCH page you posted where the guy says
I had an Espio mini and kind of regret selling it but mine didn’t seem to get on too well with my preferred film, Tri-X. I think it was too thick and stiff for it to wind.
..so would your choice of film be an issue?
I always suspected the motor of the camera being somewhat weak, but did not have problems myself yet.

  • Oh, well thanks for clearing that up. Didn't know that was how you rewound the film! But that also clears up the fact that it definitely isn't being pressed by accident because the cover has always been closed when it's decided to rewind itself.

I'm using the AGFA Vista 200 from Poundland which to my knowledge isn't thicker than your average...

Might try and get through this current roll and then have a look inside to see if anything's out of place!

  • You're welcome, the manual is here by the way (Password "Pentax").

Unfortunately yeah that clears up it's likely something to do with your camera..
