Shimano and Praxis are the only people who can cold forge their chainrings I believe.

Squirt long lasting dry lube (wax based)?

Is there a tester approved inline gear cable adjuster? Need one for my front mech as I've got internal cabling on the new bike. Won't bother with one for the rear mech.

I just bought some SRAM compact ones to mate road levers to an MTB RD
https://www.google.co.uk/shopping/product/8418927733828651306Obviously I now have twice as many as I actually need, so we may be able to come to some sort of arrangement :-)

Ha, cheers Tester! I'll drop you a PM :)

The jagwire ones don't seem complete shite.
-
• #458
So... not as bad as cantis?
-
• #459
I have a jagwire one and it unwinds itself. Have a sram one in a box I should probably swap it with.

Nothing is.

• #461
It does that when installed in the other direction.

• #462
You sure? Will flip it if you are. Internetting seems to suggest I'm not alone in this problem but perhaps the internet is only being written by the poor 50% that got it the wrong way round.

Do you ever swap wheels? If so you might reconsider...
-
• #465
There's a lots of variation but AFAIK it's usually the static on the top housing and the bottom housing is the moving part.

Following this conversation (here) Are these stronglight cranks the #tstr_approved best bet for my TT bike? I'm moving my 110BCD rival cranks onto the TT bike but at least the outer chainring is pretty worn and I want more teeth.

http://www.xxcycle.com/stronglight-chainring-time-trial-110-ct2-type-s-tt,,en.phpAlso, what is the difference between the Alu and CT2 version? The picture looks identical to me but I presume that this is a mistake?
-
• #467
Picture of the first one is a mistake. CT2 is their fancy ceramic teflon coated ring. First one is a standard zicral ring. It probably should look like this http://www.spacycles.co.uk/products.php?plid=m2b2s149p1121

This is the CT2 http://www.bike24.com/p212011.html

Box rims for an old track bike, is there anything other than tb14's I should consider? Not sure if classic style wheels qualify for tester approval..
-
• #470
The Kinlin ADHN could be an option, not sure if Tester Approved™ though?
-
• #471
Pretty sure someone on the wheelbuilding thread said they weren't great to build with.

Box rims for an old track bike
How old, and how much do you want it to look old? European or Asian? TB14 is OK for poseurs, but if you want it to look like a track bike then it's easy enough to find NOS Mavic Argent 10 or some Araya rims if it's an Asian bike.

It's a Japanese bike from around 2000, I'm not going down the njs route, just planning on building a set of stiff wheels up for track league. With HHV being outdoor and partial to a nasty bit of wind, I'm thinking shallow rims will be both period correct and the sensible choice for the conditions...

Any clincher will be wrong if you're aiming for period correct.
I wouldn't worry about the wind unless you're considering a badly designed 80mm deep rim. Something in the 30mm range will be fine and build up in a nicer set of race wheels than a poseur shallow rim. I've got some Halo Caliber (Kinlin XR380) waiting to build into track wheels, but if I were starting from 2016 I'd probably go for the DT RR511 (or Kinlin XC279 if I were even more of a pauper) for track training/league. You're obviously only 12 years old if you think your bike is old, we had 30mm deep rims by 2000 :-)

My track last bike was aluminium so going to steel feels like a step back to the old days :-) Tempted by the dt's, there's no reason I can't use the disk rim is there? (I'm sure this has been covered before elsewhere) http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=155347;menu=1000,4,301;page=2 edit they are out of stock of the 32 hole :-(
thanks : )
