Few couches, a few fridges and a discarded door going up Beddlestead today. Mist made a nice change. My bike, even with full mudguards, is fucking filthy. A nice 60kms.

No, as I live in Sheffield, I started reccying the route from Ringinglow. By the look of it the inner ring is going to be the toughest bit and the outer ring seems mostly roads and firm trails with a couple of tricky bits here and there. Next day out will be the Hope Cross and The Beast, Hagg Farm and then over Cut Gate to the TPT.
I can see a few passes of that inner ring soon though as I need to work on both climbing and descending if I want to try and complete it under 20 hours. Today's given me a sense of the enormity of the task though.

I finished work early today, got home cooked a meal and let it digest. By that time it was too late to go out for a road ride - so more time on the turbo.

As I'm an eejit, I went out mudguardless. I normally use an ass-saver at least in the winter but totally forgot yesterday.
Fortunately I had a gabba with the bum flap to keep me relatively dry, but mud had got through the pockets and all over my phone etc. BRUTAL

Trying out a new route. Pinch flat before I even reached the M25 which turned into a slow puncture all the way round.
Still, managed to do the loop in the end
Horrible ride out
https://www.strava.com/activities/485249796Quite pleasant little loop
https://www.strava.com/activities/485250949All my favourite little Herts lanes. The stuff north of Hertford was new. Bit of a slog to the northernmost point but the run back from there to Hertford was great fun.
Oh and fucking Lezyne pumps and Conti tubes with removable valves. Fuck that shit.

Not quite able to maintain 20mph avg. on the two 10 miles intervals today. 3rd ride after my collarbone incident in late November.

Testing interval intensity by whistling along to this bit of Nutbush City Limits repeatedly.

Trying to get my mate out tomorrow for the first time in 2 years after a nasty smash. Need to build his confidence and fitness.
Any recommendations for some nice routes in/and around Richmond Park? Sub 50miles.

Stay away from Surrey, miseryville.
Maybe try Windsor, or somewhere around that way? -

It's gonna be a bit of a stinker tomorrow for weather I think. Not as bad as today tho. Am gonna go late morning when it's hopefully dried (and warmed) up a touch
@Fahrgestell in my perspective RP on a sunday will definitely restore someone's love of riding. Avoid. -

Can we castrate the flytippers? Thank fuck for fellow cyclist for warning me about Beddlestead this morning.

What a cunt.

I don't think I've ever been out on a ride round Kent without seeing some flytipped crap somewhere. Disgusting.
The other week up Layham's was the exact same sofa I have at home.

That's fucking terrible. There's always loads of shite around Layham's as well.
I tend to find those roads attract complete c#nt drivers too - i've been abused / started on by young lads in souped up fiestas etc twice around there. Have a feeling it may have something to do with that little pikey camp thing around the layhams / sheepbarn junction. Massive assumption and generalisation but don't care

Mrs Ludd and I toyed with the idea of buying the little house on the left as you go up Beddlestead, we thought it would be nice to have cyclists whirring past at the weekends, but we quickly realised it wa fly tipping hell round there.
In other news, thought I might get a ride this morning but failed utterly and went to collect Luddlet from a party aftermath instead and then farted around at home worrying about work and glancing from time to time at the freshly assembled Colnago Dream sitting in the hall.

Left London at midday for a ride to Brighton. Mojo restored. Speed and weight, not so much. Somehow managed to loose the chain into the spokes a quarter of the way up Ditchling. Took a pannier to carry hardshell and woolen hat and am mighty glad I did. So cold.
Sounds good! Bradwell Edge isn't much better in the summer...
Have you done much of the White Peak section?
