Old: Bomb shelter sign on Lord North Street, which is just off Great Peter Street, which is the solution to the cryptic clue:
Scramble! [Make an anagram of] Retreat Peg [these letters] - The bombers are coming! (5,5) [= Great Peter]
Or something like that...I think.
Anyway, Lord North Street has been home to two Prime Ministers, and also Lord Anderson, the Home Secretary who, during the Second World War, gave his name to the ubiquitous bomb shelters. The painted sign on the wall indicates the location of a bomb shelter (although presumably NOT an Anderson shelter).
