It could be someone they know but aren't very fond of.

I just shared that with my work colleagues. Much lols. Many mirth.
But poor Steve is getting really desperate now and we should be looking at ways to keep him out of danger. Maybe we could all chip in and buy him a rolling metal shield thing of some sort that he can put over his taxi so he's safe from malevolent, machete-wielding cyclists?

As a threat it makes no sense, ‘I hope people you know die screaming of cancer’ could mean anyone you've ever met. I've met loads of right bastards. The cyclists haven't thought this through, that threat's total rubbish.

In fairness, all those threats were probably just from Donnachadh McCarthy.

i do hope the embankment proposal gets built.
i think well done andrew gilligan.
i think canary wharf should get rid of howard dauber. i think he looks and sounds self interested and out of date.

They started digging up St Georges Circus yesterday and Boris was having a go at it on a digger today too. Yesterday morning was an absolute clusterfuck with coned off restriction to traffic traffic and then cyclists (like me) ignoring the road closed sign cos we DGAF.
I've decided to avoid the whole area now for a year or so.

“I know a lot of people thought this would never happen - and a small number of people didn’t want it to happen. But it is happening, and London will be better as a result.

Nice of TFL to post up a few warning signs advising everyone of the upcoming works.
Oh.

• #765
Seems to have been some urgency to get started and maybe screw the LTDA proposed judicial review?
TFL put the plans on their website 4th March but there were laminated planning notices on lamp posts Feb 23rd mentioning Mar 9th start date but didn't seem to get picked up that it was going down till website updated.

They did a leaflet campaign to properties in the area (our office in Southwark got one) but obviously that's not that helpful for those cycling through...
They're moving pretty quickly because Boris (understandably) wants it on the ground before the end of his mayoral term next year - works were originally due to start even earlier but were delayed by the extension to the consultation etc.

Bumping this. Today I passed the Tower of London on my commute, as usual, and the East-West lane looks to be nearing completion. I can't wait for more of this to open. Will make such a radical difference. Went for an explore around E&C last night as well on the new lanes there - great, but a shame that they stop at E&C rather than plowing on all the way down the Old Kent Road, which is a grotesque anachronism. Anyone know of any other new bits which have opened up?

There's 200m on the approach to Parliament Square, Vauxhall Bridge, and the Oval efforts so far that I've seen.

I was there for the opening of the 200m near Parliament Square. Some fella from TfL was the first one on it: https://instagram.com/p/64vkuqjVBp
I believe Vauxhall Bridge and Oval are different ones, CS rather than E<>W. Pretty tidy though.

Anyone who uses CS3 should have a read of this. They're proposing scrapping the segregation in one direction and putting people back in with the cars. I thought the tide was flowing just one way at the moment, but apparently not...

Listening to an interesting conversation between a cabbie and some cyclist last night on the CS7 E&C going south. It seems that they have open part of it but not the bit for cyclist to go forward the cyclists using it are actually using what will be the ped crossing, which now means that they just pull out infornt of the traffic.
Most of them were insistent that what they were doing was correct and allowed. It really is an accident waiting to happen, why not just close it off until its finished. Even the finished one going in the opposite direction has now been closed as it drops you in behind the buses.
Technically, that's not a death threat.
