That's not for the Zombie Apocalypse, it's the bare minimum I'd want in home security to consider living in Ballymena....

That reminds me of this thing near my flat. I passed it on a walk once and couldn't see what it was. Not listed on maps either. I'm sure it's something very dull, but it looks like the picture of the bunker. Anyone know?

Northern Irelands only nuclear bunker of its type.
-
• #13157
It looks like a covered water reservoir to me.
-
• #13158
Yeah, we've got loads of other types of nuclear bunker, this was the only one built under ground.
The one built out of straw didn't do so well at auction.

A snip at £575K. Fuck you zombie apocalypse!
Was talking to a lady today whose father was an Ulster civil servant and would have been one of the 236 who got to be saved by this very bunker. She would have been left to perish with her mother and siblings. Weird times the Cold War. I'm pleased I was too busy watching He-Man to know what was going on.

We've had a bailiff round looking for previous owners wife and previous owner got a traffic fine through the post today. Shall be having words when he pops round for his post, the dick.

Now gimme my Irish silo back!
-
• #13171
I would do, but my British passport precludes me. I didn't fancy cosying up to a priest to get an Irish one.

Modern windows: talk to me. Going from a Victorian place to a modern one and I think we'll want to replace some or all of the existing uPVC ones with something more stylish and functional, i.e. with more than a tiny opening at the top of the window.
Like the look of Velfac. Anyone here used them?

• #13173
Shiiiiiiiit. I know Winns Terrace has a slight premium because it's park-side, and it's a first floor, but 5 hunnit and fiddy gees?? Either they know something I don't or this is Foxtons up to their old tricks
-
• #13174
Yeah - Velfac are really good. They only supply the windows though, so you do need to arrange installation through a separate contractor so factor that into price.

Any north/east London based vinyl floor fitters? And what's a ballpark cost for fitting a 2x2m square kitchen if I remove the old tiles and supply the vinyl?
I must have got lucky, it was a probate from a housing association and went for bang on the guide price.
1st auction and 1st win
