I wonder what the cops do when your bike has no brand, and no number and nothing else that is somehow branded, like one of my fixed bikes.
And moreover I wonder what happens if you just show up at the police station and tell them you have disassembled the bike as you won't use it anymore, and simply show them an image. That should do the trick as well, cheaper and quicker than buying all that xmas crap.I really hate the bike cops here in Berlin, I think they are one of the worst ideas ever. Effectively, they make bike riding less attractive and keep people from switching to bikes with their idiotic outdated bike laws.
Fortunately they are easy to spot. Rodolfo, can I ask why you haven't seem them from a far distance and simply went off?

ok i got stopped by fahrradpolizei today.
the really last stretch of my commute; and the only stretch i bend ze rulez by cycling on the pavement to get to the local bakery. guess they just also had a franzbroetchen.
so they were cool with a warning bout the cycling on the pavement, but checked my bike if it is "legal".
its a fixed gear, front brake, it has lights (but apparently not legal ones), fucking reflectors in the wheels and reflective strip on the rear tyre. ive put effort into being seen. i mean fucking reflectors in the wheels?!
long story short, i got a notice with the features my bike didnt comply with and have to show within two weeks at a polizeistelle that ive rectified them. see the list below. its ridiculous.

basically, you have to have a hybrid fitted with as much shit as you can find. see leaflet.
i felt a bit gazumped tbh; i really care about my composure in traffic; no rljing, shouting at cyclists who do, indicating.
car drivers tend to be quite hostile so i hate the fuckers ignoring every rule and making the rest of us look bad. act by example.
now i get to be an example with a christmas tree as a bike. fml
