And then aerocoach to decide which one to use? IIRC, back in the olden days some people tested faster with a round post than the Giant aero one. Probably something to do with how the thighs interact with the post from an aerodynamic pov

Wing TTs I've watched on eBay have gone for around £30 - maybe worth saving a search to receive an email on the off chance that someone has the next size down for sale, or could post a wanted here.

Id much rather run a bigger chainring and larger sprocket for smoothness, 13t's always seem to sound and feel horribly rough regardless of what chains i run!

If you're going the Gebhardt route, you might as well go full nutcase and get a 60T, it's only another €5. That's likely to be close to the limit of chainstay clearance if you're using a conventional track chainline, so no room for a really serious looking chainring :-)

At some point I'll get around to sending the CAD file to the machinist, I'm hoping I still want one when he gives me a price. It would be ~£140 in full carbon fibre from Fibrelyte. Projected weight as shown is 446g, down from 772g if it was solid aluminium, probably around 350g in solid 4mm carbon fibre.

Thanks Xavier I'll have a play with that. I'll have to change the post as that one is at max insertion before the profiled bit. (The post came with the frame)
My thinking was that I need to have my hips forward over the axle to get the power on, as I also find myself in this postion when I hunker down for a big effort on my road bike, though I guess I might be a bit high on that too, given your explanation.
