• Welp, looked into the brake thing and I've a very rusty calliper that is now going to be replaced under warranty by TRP.

They referred me to this article, which I'd found previously, but wasn't keen on stripping them and voiding the warranty, plus things feel pretty crunchy after cleaning them out with half a can of WD40, so I think the bearings are past their best anyway.

TRP have been really great on email with the advice/warranty situ, but a bit of a bummer that the bike is going to be out of action for a bit.

Riding the roadie to work is a mixed bag. Fast = good. Backpack = bad.

  • Cheers for the link on the spyre service. Will do that on mine as preventative although I think they may have been binding a little too...

  • Most welcome!

TRP have done me a proper solid and are replacing the front calliper under warranty via their UK distro. Their service has been ace - really communicative and responsive which totally takes the edge off having the bike out of action. So props to Katie @ TRP there.

She did recommend doing the spraying out/lubing thing that's mentioned in that thread, every month or so I guess. Will be dodging that area in future as far as the degreaser goes too.
