• Maybe not the thread for armchair legal musings, but I've always wondered why they can't just create some catch all offence of "killing someone, even though it wasn't murder it was clearly your fault and you were negligent". That could cover motorists, cyclists and chainsaw juggling enthusiasts under one big net.

    As it stands the manslaughter law (that I though was supposed to cover accidental killing) only seems to be applied to deliberate killing, like a sort of "spur of the moment murder".

    Edit - Plus a "causing injury" variant for when the act doesn't result in death.
