  • I love Z cars. Great affordable classic. The Rotsun was a splendid piece of Junk. Arguably my favourite roadkill car along with the stock car they killed and the Vette buggy.

  • Adds to ignore. 😀

  • Oh yeah, the Vette Buggy - That is a great thing. For those that haven't seen it, it's the best thing to do with an 'vette

  • Volvo estate retrospective, I'd love an older car with my engine and a modern gearbox/diff.

  • Not sure if this is the best place to ask but I have a 9 seater van, 3 seats in the front and 6 seats behind a curtain in the back, what's the cheapest/easiest way to add a couple of speakers to the stereo to play in the back? At the moment if anyone in the back wants to hear the stereo I have to crank it up pretty loud. The only requirement other than cheap and easy to set up is that it needs to be relatively simple to deactivate the speakers if necessary.

  • New head unit with more than 2 speaker output, buy 2 or more new speakers and speaker wire to wire new speakers into new head unit.

Use fader to fade output to just front speakers when you want to de-activate

  • Gumtree/eBay should sort you out for about £100

  • Don't know if anyone caught this

Quite interesting but broke a T5r for the engine which I thought was extreme

  • Someone was asking where they could get hold of a van last week.

  • I'm Leeds based so possibly not much good to the majority of you London types on here! Thanks @NurseHolliday, good advice!

  • Oof, unreturned fistbump at 31.45

  • That's not the T-5R engine going into the buggy, either - it's an RN.

  • If you've not changed a head unit before, then a quick run down:

Your van is probably only wired for 2 speakers, but it'd be worth checking online if the van comes in minibus format and all models are wired the same, in which case the wiring for rear speakers will already exist and it's just a case of plugging them in.

If not, new head units (about £60 from Halfords for a Sony or Alpine with a USB and/or Aux in, maybe £120 for one with Bluetooth for the hands free) come with an ISO adaptor at the end of the head unit loom. You can either buy an ISO converter for the van's loom, or chop the connector that plugs into the van's original head unit and wire it to a universal ISO connector using a wiring diagram. There will be 8 wires for 4 speakers, + and - for 2 front and 2 rear on most head units. You just want to connect the new speaker wire up to the + and - for the 2 rear speakers

  • Just stop making terrible mistakes.

I think that you should take time and look at your life, look deep down inside yourself. In those dark places of your pysche where you are afraid to look to try and find what you did in your life that you cannot recognize random 50-mid 90s car from odd angles.

  • Unignored just for the mid-nineties error. (350z was post millennium)

I also see the 240z was over a decade later.

    Jeysus. #Pot #Kettle

  • Meh why not tell me what you did instead, I want to know what I missed...I think it was probably socialising without alcohol.

The other day I recognised a renault 5 year and model number from a glance at a tailgate, random men were impressed. I was just sad that the statement just came out, I did even think about it.

EDIT: No idea what the engine and turbo is tho.

  • The van has an aftermarket alpine head unit, I'll find out what model and Google what I need tomorrow, sounds a lot simpler than I'd thought!

  • Sounds like you just need 2 new speakers then and some speaker wire

  • Trololololollo

    Just use mains cable...

  • Yep, should be a case of running new speaker wires if they are not already there.
If you google "Alpine DIN ISO plug diagram" you'll get results like:

Alpine should be standardised and from a very foggy memory that linked diagram looks correct. If the speakers aren't wired there'll be a few inches hanging out the back of the plug that you can strip and connect the speaker cable to.

  • I want this:

    Thanks Russia!

  • That's the kind of car I imagine @ChainBreaker would drive.

  • It is amazing.

  • See this is doing the rounds on SM.

    Great for school drop off.

    Is that Apparat I hear?
