I assume, they prosecute the offence, jumping red light / cyclist without due care and attention, rather than the outcome of that office, pedestrian in a coma.
It would be great if all drivers guilty of driving without due care and attention end up in prison (most don't).

Indeed, now whether the offence should be 'without due care and attention' or 'dangerous'? I don't know what the options are for cycling?

Our prisons are already massively over full and there is no evidence that prison sentences do anything to improve people's driving.
Edit; I'd like to see more longer term bans, life time bans for serious offences.

If a car had run a red light and caused brain injury to a pedestrian I'd hope to see the driver get a custodial sentence. Same with this, to be honest. Assuming this case is as clear cut as it seems to be from the articles, I feel the cyclist got off lightly - I appreciate that seems to be because 'cycling without due care and attention' apparently doesn't allow for a prison sentence...
