• If a car had run a red light and caused brain injury to a pedestrian I'd hope to see the driver get a custodial sentence. Same with this, to be honest. Assuming this case is as clear cut as it seems to be from the articles, I feel the cyclist got off lightly - I appreciate that seems to be because 'cycling without due care and attention' apparently doesn't allow for a prison sentence...

  • I assume, they prosecute the offence, jumping red light / cyclist without due care and attention, rather than the outcome of that office, pedestrian in a coma.

    It would be great if all drivers guilty of driving without due care and attention end up in prison (most don't).
