  • Planet X are flogging rebranded moon comets for £10 each, I really like my Aldi ones.
Also this which seems alright, not sure exactly what they've rebranded though, looks a bit like a meteor, but not quite.

  • Any recommendations for a good USB rechargeable front main light that can be mounted to the stem?

  • I have a moon comet http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00A77SNHI/ref=pe_385721_51767431_TE_dp_1 mounted to my headtube which is reasonable and doesn't take up bar space (if that's why you want stem mount).

  • They're selling rebranded versions of them on planet x for a tenner at the moment with a further 25% off with a code.

  • ^yep saw that. Ordered one. Hope it's good as a main light. If not will use it as a spare.

  • my comet is flashing red after 20 mins on low :/

only a few weeks old too. Shame cos its awesomely bright and seems robust

  • Just got a Cygolite Dash 320, very impressed.

The Low setting is great for pretty much everything, and when on the unlit towpath Medium is plenty. The High setting is insane.

  • The light above, and the Lezenye ones have a rubber strap which and be twisted 90º so you could mount on a stem.

  • very little info on these in english unfort, (they're a small danish brand) but they're quite fantastic - recommended

  • Now 35% - just bought the front one (and some others bits and bobs). Need something that can be used on multiple bikes, so the rear's mounting method is no good.

  • Did yours not come with a rear seatpost mount either? I thought mine was maybe a fuck up as it shows one on the packaging, although I already had one so wasn't too bothered. Maybe moan at them and get them to send one out, or at least another front one, mounts are the same.

  • No, I didn't want something with a seatpost mount so I just didn't buy it. Want something with an easily transferable mount so I can use it on different bikes.

  • I did buy some pink riser bars for less than a fiver though. Sweet.

  • The Aldi moons came with an easy on/off silicone thing (same as the front) and a saddle rail mount, the px one I got came with just the saddle one, but I don't know if that's how they are or if it was a fuck up, packaging shows both kind.

  • I've ordered some "Comets" from PX, so we'll see...

  • Does anyone have comments on Lezyne Macro Duo helmet lights?

They have rather excellent reviews everywhere. Only criticised for the weak (5 Lumen) rear light. But I am not planning to use them as stand-alone solution.

The only similar option seem to be Exposure Link and Exposure Link Plus:

  • These should be strong enough lights to see where you going into a corner before your main light follows then they make sense. You understand.

  • I agree, this is one of the reasons I have been considering these. Though for now the main reason would be to have something sitting higher up than on the handlebars and seat post, e.g. in traffic or narrow side roads with parked cars.
And I like that it is two-in-one which would mean not having to deal with two more lights all the time.
And last but not least it is nice to have a back up if one of the two main lights fails.

  • When I used to have a helmet light I found you had fewer cars pulling out on you from side streets because as you looked at them the light would shine straight at them.

I gave up on it though partly because I felt like a bit of a bellend cycling in London with a helmet light but also because I wasn't sure what the result on the helmet would be if I came off. I could picture it digging in and twisting my neck and also creating a weak point on the helmet.

  • Guess they're the same as what Aldi and planet x have been flogging.

  • Yes, I have a pair, and they seem to perform exactly the same. Got them from a London seller here ...
