A short wheelbase recumbent may be anti to many, but you can do much better than that one; there's as rich a vein in that world as tri-bikery.
Here's a medium wheelbase to get you started.

I get the thought behind it, it's not necessarily a bad one is it?

The interesting thing is that Jaguar/Pinarello went to the other extreme for Brad, and the UKSI bikes seem to have settled on a narrow fork now. They're both using discs indoors, the choice between narrow and wide probably depends on which wheels you're using and what range of yaw angles you're trying to tackle, both of which are very different at Kona from what they are inside the pringle. I also have a suspicion that UKSI made up some wide forks to test, found they were at least no worse than narrow ones and used them anyway to force all the other teams to go scurrying back to their labs to see if they were missing a trick. Never underestimate the role of psy-ops in the Sky/TeamGB system.

Considering the position of the tensioner with the chain in the big ring, one has to hope so. Once down in the small chainring there'd only be 3 or 4 teeth of the freewheel engaged in the chain.

I...what? What is that carbon thing supporting the caliper? Is that just hanging off or threaded through the QR?
On second look it looks like it's riveted or sandwiched into those two holes that are drilled forward of the dropout...
