Yeah, but he's no longer selling...

• #26580
He just needs the right kind of encouragement.
-
• #26581
Buy one that he hasn't ruined.

Hah, you should try mine back to back with a stock one, mine stops - which the original won't do more than once, and it'll rev like a petrol, rather than the rather more diesel like attitude of the original. Other than that it's the same.

This is Steve's car, smaller turbo than mine (19T vs 20T) but he has meth injection:

That's not bad at all. Seems very tractable from the video - what's the negative?
You must never get to use full throttle on the road though... -
• #26585
Full throttle - not for long, no - merging with aplomb is about it.
Negatives - it's an 8.5:1 compression engine, so despite being 2.3 litre it's a bit rubbish until it comes into boost, when it's not anymore.
When you are on track that's not a problem, but it can be a bit annoying when (and it's always your own fault for not being observant tbh) you get caught napping and are not in the right rev range/gear.

Not a lot went past it.

Start with this one

That's (possibly) a decent choice for a car to take the dog to the park, it's a very poor base for something you want to go fast in though.

Buy engine from this, install into car, change box to manual if needs be remapp and bolt on goodies to the engine to your hearts content.
https://www.gumtree.com/p/volvo/volvo-940-estate-/1153675489 as a base and you have rear wheel drive.....https://www.gumtree.com/p/volvo/volvo-760-estate-2.3-turbo-petrol-/1150643620

Headlights say Datsun 240Z?
-
• #26592
M56 gearbox won't work - you'd need an M58.
Turbo loom is different to the NA and that V70, whilst sharing the 850 chassis might be an ME7 car with the drive by wire throttle, which is a PITA to tune compared to 4.4
Finally that AWD system is a) likely broken and b) an unwanted 90kg.
New posters ask for the best way to turbo their NA 850 on Volvo forums quite frequently - the answer is always "sell it and buy a turbo".

No, not a 350z you mean nissan 240z/260z/280z/fairlady z
Nice edit, still wrong. Congrats, third edit. How can you not instantly recognise that car?

Headlights say Datsun ZX?
Correct:

Is it wrong to want a ratty 240Z? Ever since watching Roadkill and their "Rotsun" v6 turbo 240Z build it seems really tempting.
-
• #26596
See my previous post, it is not a zx.
-
• #26597
Some one on here's dad has one. Pictures were a while back but it looked lovely.
Part of me thinks that if it is going to be ratty, it has to have the orignal engine and box but with the internals matched to modern tollerances.....
-
• #26598
It isn't remotely wrong.

The loom isn't that great an issue, if at all. If you are going for power you might as well get a decent aftermarket engine management set up for the uprated injectors and turbos to get the most efficient setup.
Gearbox wise m56 is the turbo gearbox from 850turbo, same/similar internals to the rearwheel drive turbo box hence being able to but the 850 t5 engine in to a 7/9 series.[has been continued] The M58 box is an m56 with an output shaft for the rear wheels. So the benefit is increased traction of using the rear wheels. In theory that means you can use later awd boxes to...then you might as well go to a modern engine that way more power at a smaller price.
There are two types different options for buckaroo to look at.

I think what you mean is that the inside of an M90 and an M56 are essentially the same- not sure how that has relevance to the AWD system however.
Noted!
