  • Just picked up a bargain CAAD3. Hard to tell from the rubbish pic, but it's absolutely mint condition, not even a chip on the chainstay. I've had a couple of older CAADs before, but only in the bright blue/red. Had never seen a midnight blue one before. Looks nice and sparkly in the sunlight! Picked it up as seen and fully functioning for £160. Found it odd that it didn't have the carbon slice forks?

I took a bit of a punt on it, and initially planned to use it as my commuter (18 miles through dark country lanes). However, I'm now thinking it's far too nice to fuck up, and perhaps I should make it awesome. Thoughts? Am I committing a crime taking a mint 16 year old frame and using it to cycle through snow and horse shit every day?

    Yes

    Yes

  • I've got a Caad4 in that exact colour. I ditched the boat anchor forks, built it up as a budget road bike and somehow managed to get down to 7.1kg at one point without really trying. Great frameset

Nah just use it for whatever you want. Pop some PDWs on it or roadracers or whatever. It will be OK. What's the group on it? 105? Does it have an R number (R600 or whatever)?

That coda stem has to go tho
