Can't imagine a CD drive would have much impact on any of those... but hear what you are saying... I only ever use my external to transfer photos (35mm scans).
That other is no way as nice.
I put an extra fan into my Black box of doom a few days back and now the whole thing is noiser, I might start obsessing over noise reduction.

Arrgh thats annoying. Why on Earth doesnt it have a slot? My Mac's dont but they are all tiny, this is massive, it should have room.
