• Okay, so, should I buy one?

It seems like everything I love about my Krampus (plus size, trail-friendly geo) but with the only disadvantage (Krampus has stupidly long wheelbase) taken away.

I am looking at the one in Dat Purple with the Manitou fork... mainly because of the colour. In fact entirely because of the colour.

  • Got bitten by the plus sized hype...
Had my first ride on my new steed over the weekend. So much fun and looks so good in the flesh...

  • Ooh, nice. Beefy looking fork on there too!

  • Beefyish. Fox float 120mm but with the nice chunky 34mm stanchions.

Still got to dial in the tyre pressure which should be easier when I've got them tubeless and got a mini digital gauge. Even so, the grip is awesome but you can still chuck it about, really doesn't feel like it's cumbersome at all.

  • I could laser etch that for you...

  • kinda great

  • Getting there... Just need new crankset and dirt drops (and of course new stem, brakes, etc, etc.)

  • If only...

  • Wow thats a lot of tyre. Looks epic.

  • Unfortunately it's only mocked up with those wheels, not enough clearance to actually ride them :(

  • I've stumbled upon this site many times over the years. I figured I would sign up and post.

My custom touring frame that I had made for flat bars but realized I much prefer drops for touring.

  • ^ is rad. why sliding droupouts though? just for max tyre clearance?

  • It's a stripped Soma Wolverine, belt drive compatible

    • making your frame ss when your rear mech blows out is nice
  • @andy_k it is super cool but i think i would prefer to have a seperate belt drive bike if i was that way inclined, surely switching that over to belt drive is pretty much a full rebuild every time? untape bars, change shifters, remove mechs/cranks, wheel etc? i guess you can do it...but why....?

@Hulsroy would you have to still take links out the chain to get tension?

  • I was trying to explain the reasoning for the sliding dropouts on the frame, I thought the dropout allowed the frame to be split, turns out it's actually the stay that's split on these frames. Sliders do allow you to tension the belt, or run sscx if you want...

  • Yes, you would need a chain tool. But it can make a big difference when off road somewhere far away

  • @Hulsroy thanks, makes sense for sure.

@andy_k gotcha, do love sliding drops, briefly had a kona explosif with the sliding drops but it was too big for me...

  • How are those tyres on the Archtypes? Any squirm?

  • V1 splits at the dropout v2 at the stay
