Is it a staffing/finance issue preventing it?
See above.
I'm not exactly sure what we could give via Cycle PS Battersea but we have the weight of a bike shop to offer support if that would help.
Talk to Dave ( @The_London_Classic , formerly cobblemonster) and see what he says?
I'd be up for helping some, too.

Hi folks
Yep we took the decision not to run for 2016 - there is some general fatigue amongst the gang and a desire to reshape it for next year. My brother has a wee babby on the way which will be here for Flanders. Money isn't the issue -its not expensive to stage and the donations made have always been generous enough for people to say 'really?' when we tell them how much money our ride from a SE London boozer makes for charity. We want this to come back better and stronger next year, simple as.
Thanks privatepatterson for the offer of help from your bike shop, that is very kind. We have been well supported by our friends at Brixton Cycles from the beginning and having a local LBS and not an online slayer onboard is what matters.
I can confirm that The Gipsy Hill Tavern will be showing Roubaix on the big screen on Sunday the 9th of April. I can also confirm that Brixton CC will be doing the 2015 route as their club run - I'm sure others will do so too, so you could say there will be an unofficial, clandestine TLC this year for those who cannot get enough cobbles.
thanks
Dave

ok so I read it now.
Let's just do it anyway.

Hurrah!

Yep, we'll definitely be doing it as our clubrun, then all going to tavern and doing a charity collection, watching the racing and drinking some beer/intriguing cocktails.
The more the merrier!

I'm up for it

I've changed the date to this year are Brixton Cycles CC doing there run on the 9th? The Sunday is the 10th
-
• #287
We'll be doing it on the 10th so we can watch PR after.

Should someone set up a just giving page so money could still be raised for charity? I think many of those pink arrows are still up in South London from last year...
-
• #289
We were going to get some buckets and collect cash, but a page for charity sounds like a good shout too.
What do you reckon Dave? @The_London_Classic

• #290
It is fixed then see you on the day is not before.
Happy to set up a just giving page if Dave does not have the time -
• #291
Sounds good. Thanks for taking charge guys. It's a great ride and I wouldn't want to miss it! See you all on the 10th!

Balls. Went to put this in my calendar and I'm away. Have fun without me. I'd still like to donate if someone sets up the just giving page.
-
• #293
I won't be starting a charity page - that makes this an 'official' London Classic in my eyes which it isn't - there is nothing for a punter, no route guide, freebies, signs, food, emails etc and no admin with the Met and local authorities.
I'll put some Evelina buckets in the GHT.

Cool, what I was thinking too, keep it simple.
Cheers

Given health and strength, I'll see you all in 2017...
Peace and love to all those who know and love this ride and of course those who organise it...

Having seen this picture, I am now more convinced than ever that the real reason why it's not happening is because there was a worry that people would suffer terrible shock at encountering Jim with a merely re-growing beard.

It's in my diary :0)

So, are we doing the 'unofficial' edition on the date of Paris-Roubaix or on the date of the Ronde?
I can confirm that The Gipsy Hill Tavern will be showing Roubaix on the big screen on Sunday the 9th of April.
http://www.letour.fr/indexPRX_us.html says that P-R is on the 10th of April, which, considering that that's the Sunday, seems sensible. :)
Can we therefore fix the 10th and start a new thread? Is everybody OK with that?
Oops, just saw Adam's and Ecobeard's posts:

Should we have a new thread? This one was really for 2015. It might get confusing to shift thread purposes around.

if you start a new thread please don't announce it as 'The London Classic' - cheers:)

'The London Neo-Classic'?
'The London Modernist'?
'The London Renaissance?'Decisions, decisions ... :)
Well, it says on the page Howard linked to--a baby on the way at Classic Towers.
I only found out tonight, from him, when I visited him for tagging. Productive evening!
