Just considering options to use dynamo less.
I will most likely stick with 1000 as it works.
Might consider new one, so get new battery. As mines 2y old now...

Are they that old already? Man Garmin are slow with new versions. They do manage to cram an impressive number of shitty bugs into each release though which is why I guess there's that time gap between iterations.
Considered doing a battery swap? I know some people have done it with the 800s and it looks simple enough. Not sure about the 1000s though.

I guess, but that's what external batteries/dynamos are for. I like having maps on the device so I can find stuff when I'm in unfamiliar territory.
