So does that mean that the Tower Street street sign is at least 150 years old?
Potentially, although people continued to use the old NE code long after it was officially abolished, (according to that article) and even the road signs continued to show it up to 1917, so it might not be quite as old as 150 years.
Or they nicked one from Newcastle.
Does anyone know why the street was renamed to Martello from Tower? Is there a coastal defense connection?
