Can you set the GMT hand independently of the main time or are the two linked?
-
• #18003
Linked. But can be set independently. :o)
It allows you to keep track of 2 time zones.
Anywhere.

This is the back of the watch. It can rotate freely. if you put it in the right way, you put a small ring in that should (I think) keep it stable. On that goes a rubber seal, on top of that the back cover and on top of that a lock ring. When you put it all together again the mechanism can still move around until it hits something (so it can lift 2/3mm on the top and bottom. The only place it's attached is on the axle that's connected to the "button" on the outside that you use to wind and set the watch with. It's strange. Will look at it again tonight.

My usual daily wearer (AT 3719) has just gone back to IWC for a service so treated myself to an SKX007 and an orange rhino to tide me over for the next few weeks. Know it's been said before but what a great watch in terms of bang per buck - great build quality.

Ahhh ok that sounds good. Any tips of getting rid of the date part?

How often do people service their watches?
-
• #18021
The generally held theory with mechanicals is get them pressure tested yearly (where applicable) but don't open them up unless they stop working!
-
• #18022
Difficult question to answer. Modern, synthetic oils can mean a very long service interval if the mechanism is kept clean. Personally, I'd use most most watches without servicing until I notice a deterioration in performance.

I have this up on SC on TZUK at the moment. Less than a year old, 4K if anyone is interested (complete set, worn less than a half dozen times). I just have to admit that my eyeballs are running out of warranty and I just can no longer read the date without glasses.
Any marks are fingerprints, dust and my lousy photography skills. Keeping time within COSC (as you'd expect).
