  • Definitely trying that! Sounds delicious.

  • it's awesome. i was just back from a ride so really wanted the saltiness and worked with the tomatoes a treat. and the idea of not whisking the egg too much to give 'texture' of scrambled yolk and white is also good. a keeper that!

let me know how you find it

  • In the instructions it says to 'drizzle' Marmite. Is it even possible to drizzle Marmite?

  • Yes i thought that one a little odd.... drizzling marmite is like drizzling cement. Olive oil with marmite is a win though.

On which note, I've stopped using margerine on bread altogether. If i'm having toast it's butter or preferably olive oil. I rarely eat sandwiches but just use sliced avocado instead. CSB

  • Get squishy marmite, drizzle away!

  • Did it have a little hint of mint? Always see mint in Roman-style dishes.

  • It should have had mint, but since gf is allergic, I swapped it for thyme

  • allergic to mint?!

what is life without a mint feast in the summer

  • On BBC Four right now The Meat Market: Inside Smithfield

    It's a good watch

  • Featuring Marky Market @mands

  • Aw Mark...top bloke!

  • Any recommendations for informal lunch eats near Buck Palace? Going to the Queens Gallery with my ma tomorrow, and I know nothing about places to go round there.

  • O I work around there I'm afraid its a bit crap ...
If you can be bothered to walk, there's a quite good basement sushi place on strutton ground

the royal quarter cafe on Buckingham Gate does quite good panini, salads etc in a nice setting, tad on the spenny side

there's Leon, Benugo, Fat-tongue'd-essex-lad's Italian etc on Victoria St too...

  • if you can be arsed to shlep to westminster abbey, there's nice lunch afternoon tea joint in there that's particularly mum friendly.

make a royal scroungers day of it!

  • Cafe on the Serpentine perfectly acceptable if you don't mind a little walk

  • Anyone know where I can get some ricotta made only with sheeps milk in London (preferably SE or Central)

  • Re: degorge. Other than to draw out excess moisture in the aubergine I'm not sure why. Google suggests the vegetable used to be more bitter but modern varieties are less so. I did a cooking class once where we diced, layered with salt and put a weighted plate on top and half an hour later a surprising amount of black liquid appears.

  • undercooked eggplant is fucking rank.

slow cooked eggplant marinated in blackbean + oyster sauce sauce is about the best thing you'll ever eat. bang under a hot grill for a few mins for a bit of a crisp for extra favlour.

  • Melanzana parmigiana, one of the greatest dishes ever conceived by the upright ape... I want some now...

  • undercooked eggplant is fucking rank

agreed, i put this in same basket as eating eggshell in my scrambled eggs
    shudder

  • Yep, or getting a lemon pip in my salad.

  • Or biting a hidden cardamom pod. Peh peh peh

  • whole clove in sauce, fuck that!

  • Getting a tail in pork scratchings.

    Oh no, wait, that's awesome.
