Yep. My friend and I tried to write a game. We got stuck on the bit of code about making the character jump over the alien and I got bored and gave up but he kept going. He did grow up to be a programmer though.

Then spend hours typing out the code only to find it didn't work. Then spend more hours trying to fix it without any luck, only to find in the next issue there was an apology to say the code last week was wrong. Happy daze.
In other medium age news, my mother called today to ask what see should no with all the cassettes she has just found in the loft...

We never had a wired remote tv, we went straight from big buttons to ir remote.
We did have a wired remote for the Fergusson Videostar though. We also got an extension lead so it could run round the edge of the room to my dads chair.

Did you buy the books and magazines with code in where you programmed your own games?
Oh yes.
I once nearly had one published, got the money for it, but the magazine went under before it could be printed. My best friend had quite a few published. We were world champions at typing in listings, even with machine code in DATAs.
