FD mount on the new P3 causes as much drag as the DT.

• #1253
I didn't remove mine but I'm back on front shifting at the moment so depends if you really don't want an FD. I'm not sure I'd want to try and pop rivet it back on.

If it's anything like my S2's riveted on stuff which I removed, it'll be pop rivets and a blob of epoxy holding it on.

• #1256
Not really. I just levered the part off (it was the cable stop for the rear derailleur, which I didn't need as I was going Di2) and sanded off the epoxy left on the frame and polished the paint. You may be lucky - the FD mount on the P5, which was held on by bolts, just fell off once the bolts were removed. No easy way to remove epoxy from a carbon frame, given that the resin holding the carbon fibres together is epoxy as well...

Chicken, get the grinder out with a flap disc.

I would hope they cancelled ruder position out in the test.
But my point was that the spec probably makes at least as much difference as the frame.

Anyone make short, aero stems for normal steerer / 31.8 clamping?

Might work. Need to get the tape measure out.
"available in 85 / 95 / 105 mm lengths"I think my stem is in riser mode, lifting the bars up so I might get short enough but perhaps not enough rise. Guess I could then use extension stacks but still might leave bars in the wrong spot.

Not many options out there. I have a shortish chinese carbon one. Its 90mm I think, and looks pretty damned aero.
Doesnt actually clamp Your bars though. Which I found to be a slight downside.

Thanks but I'm trying to keep my teeth in my skull and my aerobars out of my brain.

I wouldnt send it to you if you paid. It simply isnt safe.
When I was looking at aero stems the only real options were that Pro, 3T, and BLKtech. But that Pro was too Heavy for a road bike, and both the 3T, and BLK come in 120 only iI think.

If I can make it fit... star wars front end...

Might be an option if the PRO doesn't work.
Maybe I should just train myself to stretch out more.

The 3T Integra comes in as short as 100mm, according to googs

Thats true. Its bonkers Heavy though.
I was thinking of the carbon one.

Heavy. You're funny.

We dont all want to be slaves to gravity........

Fit > Aero > Durability > Cost > Weight

I ended up With a MTB stem. Still my most aero option as it has my Junction Box in it, With my Di cables exiting a hole I drilled in my eye wateringly expensive carbon bars, then out the back of the stem.
Not sure it makes any difference when I have the Extensions on. But it does mean I only have the Di2 cables from the TT shifters entering the faceplate of the stem.
The fit of the 110mm seems Perfect for both road and tri. But then I Guess thats how the geometry of the bike is designed to work.

I was out last night so didn't get a chance to look at my stem (ooh nurse).
Other than swapping the bars, I could go back to TriRig brakes - they're almost certainly more aero than the hydro ones but not as good at stopping.
I set my 50mi PB without shoe covers on so there's moar gainz to be had.
I might go back to my 1x11 setup to lose a chainring and front derailler and will likely invest in a proper disc and crank power meter so I don't have to limit my gears to 9spd just to run the Raltech cover on the G3 Powertap.
There's probably faster skinsuits available than my Bioracer one and I might throw some money at trip socks.
Maybe I should just buy a whole new bike? Keep drooling over Magicman's Giant..
Really what I should be doing is having my veins bored out so I don't get a dead leg when racing ala Stuey O'Grady. :S

There's definitely faster skinsuits available than my Bioracer one
Tripsocks are a guarantee watt saving, though they do look a bit shit. Don't you already use some sort of compression sock though?
Yeah, my thoughts exactly.
