  • Same here. Got some 5€ Aldi ones going on since 2 winters.

They're shit once the temperature drops under -5° and over +10° Otherwise they're okay.

  • These badboys. £4.99 apparently. I've found them fine to at least -6, but get a bit hot over 5 degrees over extended periods of time.

TBH I've done 90% of my winter riding without gloves this year, it's been so mild.

  • Let me know how you get on with them. Always thought they looked good, just couldn't justify buying them sight unseen.

Went for Rapha Winter Gloves in the end which have been much too hot all year ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • Luckily bought them just in time for it to get really cold, so wore them for about a week and now it's too warm for them to so I've gone back to the FF Tour.

They're good. Comfy, grippy kangaroo leather palm. Back of the hand material is kinda neoprene-like, but haven't tried them in the wet yet. I felt they didn't offer amazing protection from wind chill, but cuffs were a good length and my hands were never super cold, just a bit chilly at times. All in all, I would recommend them for the price I paid (was it £25?) but probably wouldn't recommend at RRP.

  • oh whaaaaa where did you get them for that price?! Good to know though, thank you. I've got the mitts and the LF, thought they would be a good addition.

I want to get a replacement set of Cadence gloves, which I loved and lost, for this 5º-10º nonsense weather. Ended up wearing a pair of £4 nike wool gloves for most of this winter, which now also need replacing. One set of gloves per month basically.

  • That was from Tweeks cycles, I see they're now up to £30 in limited sizes.

Also, XXXL came up slightly smaller (or they're slightly less stretchy) than the FF Tour gloves.

  • Big fan of Assos tiburuGloves Evo7. Great for current weather, thin and completely block the wind without getting hot. I also like the longsummerGloves - despite the name I use them all year round except the coldest days.

    Others:

    • Rapha winter too hot and clumsy.
    • Rapha merino: the padded palm and inside finger bits which aren't wool are just nasty - feel horrible and crumble away in your hands. Also seams are delicate and prone to holes.
    • Assos Bonka very good on the coldest days, better than Rapha winter but too hot now.
    • Do not like Assos fuguGloves, separate inner is annoying.
    • Gore OK but fall apart quickly, quality doesn't match price.
    • Some people like the thinner Arc'Teryx for cycling, not convinced. Slippery, too hot.
  • I've got a pair of Castelli Divulios and they're a bit heavy and hot, any recommendations for something lighter?

  • I've been using some rab power streach gloves recently. So good.
Not too hot, not to cold. Keep my hands warm in rain.

  • Brilliant, I've already got a pair of them. Never used them cycling though

  • Just saying, it's freezing up here in Scotchland.

  • Too soon

  • Forecast here says 9°C tomorrow. 22 next week though. No thicky gloves yet.

  • I've had one ride in Winter gloves and moved striaght to turbo training. Fuck this shit.

  • How the hell do I wash/clean my softshell gloves? they stink after being worn a few times, I washed them and let air dry, stink again after being worn for a few miles. tried soaking, then washing, still no luck. how do you all clean your winter gloves?

  • ^ I've not tried this on gloves, but try soaking them in warm water with a few tablespoons of Bicarbonate of Soda overnight, leave to dry. This seems to work well on stinky gym clothing/synthetic base layers etc

  • You can buy a Kg online cheap (looks dodgy as hell when it arrives though!) or sometimes in pound shops etc

  • Come at me Winter.

  • Uh huh, lipo fuelled wireless heated gloves. Burn your fingers hot. Yass!

  • Fellow Raynaud's sufferers!... I wore through the index finger of my Decathlon silk gloves last year. They did a pretty good job of keeping hands warm-ish in cool weather, and bearable in cooold weather under lobster mitts. Shall I just get the same again, or is there any more effective combination anyone's found? (If not, consider this a recommendation.)

  • That sounds amazing, but £150 = donotwant.gif

  • The pain of frigidly cold digits (Reynaud's) means its money well spent imo.

I wish I had bought them years ago instead of fannying about with silk/merino/insulated/Gore £££!

  • I don't have Raynaud's, but I do get cold hands and spend a lot of time outdoors in winter. I had the Decathlon silk gloves as underliners too; I thought they were ok, but mine also fell apart quickly. I replaced them with some more expensive but considerably better quality Helly Hansen Merino ones, which are much warmer and have not fallen apart yet.
