Breakfast, yes, but only a couple of bowls of cereal or something. Only need to replace the calories lost whilst sleeping and I don't want to start running with much in my stomach.

Write that blog, I'd read that. Much more inspiring than mine!
I didn't make it to Wimbledon at the weekend but going to go this weekend, bring on those wombles! Thanks for the link too :) -

@Greenbank Have got my first marathon in April and tended to not need to eat anything under about 15 miles either. I haven't been eating differently whether it's a long run or a normal day. Porridge, protein shake and banana when I wake up. I don't have any trouble running 30mins after eating though (or eating breakfast while on the turbo) and the above doesn't leave me feeling full. I think for the marathon I'll be sticking with a similar plan and starting on the gels earlier throughout the run. May take a Clif bar or similar, as I prefer something approaching real food to sugar/gels.
Unless someone that knows what they're doing tells me otherwise... -

i think most people undereat during the marathon moreso the slower they are, there's science available to tell you how much carbs you will be burning as time goes on and ideally you'd be looking to replace it with gels so that it can be absorbed before you run out.
http://www.runnersworld.com/newswire/more-carbs-better-in-marathons-but-practice-first
I do a gel just before the race, then every 3 miles and have never come close to hitting the wall (although london last year went wrong for other reasons unrelated to fuelling).
it's important to be aware that not all gels are created equal either, this is a good comparison of some of the options... I use GU fwiw

and as for taking gels offered by the organiser along the course, they sometimes run out when you pass and haven't had time to put more out.
also the entire floor will be sticky with gels from the inconsiderate pricks who are faster than you eating half then throwing it on the floor and it will fuck up your shoes for the next mile or two so they stick with each step and annoy the shit out of you best to just run as wide around the gel stations and take your own.
also sports drink stations, people think taking a swig then tossing the bottle works, you need to drink the lot to actually get enough carbs if you are using it to replace a gel.

Love it! Really enjoyed that.
I've had a long break of sporadic running/cycling so been trying to do something 6 days a week to get back in the habit. No selfies, and not much success though.

Ran (walked, slipped, stumbled) over muncaster fell in the lakes at the weekend. Was a lot of fun.
How bad is it underfoot on Wimbledon common at the moment?

http://www.parkrun.org.uk/wimbledon/photos/ will give you an idea.
Boggy as fuck on the usual boggy as fuck bits, but the metalled track bits are nice and firm.

Are we vulgar enough to post our strava accounts on here and follow each other?

I actually follow HatBeard who putting in some strong work this year.

could create a LFGSS Run club on strava - half way between weird and stalky and only seeing snippets from what people post on here....

There's an LFGSS Tri club: https://www.strava.com/clubs/117551
But someone can always start an LFGSS Running club. I'd join to be comfortably midtable obscurity.

Strava related, gpx export then import to my training log lets me play this #maprun style game on the site my log is on:
http://www.fetcheveryone.com/checkpoints.php
Completely pointless other than for making me mix up my routes over the last few months, and "forcing" me to carry phonegps if I want to see if a route hits any markers.
Might appeal to @_Leon & others...

No worries, I hope they're more you than me. At least people can see you coming.
My Strava account is very bitty since I like to run watchless for easy runs, plus my dodgy Garmin is about to be sent back for a replacement.
I saw a chiropractor today who inflicted some interesting abuse to my heel, calf and glutes. Point of pain was the heel/achilles insertion but he reckoned it stemmed from alignment issues further up the "chain", so I should know within the next few days and a test jog whether that's done any good. Fingers still crossed to represent Kent in the Essex 20 in March even if I need to ditch a few race plans before then. Oh and the National!
Fuck gels, nasty sticky shit, Gatorade and/or jelly bears.
