UCI taking it ever more seriously.
Because doping isn't that serious as it is.

Huh?

It's an interesting point of view

Just a dig at UCI effort in biological doping.
What interesting about mechanical doping is that it's not illegal, just not approved by the UCI.

I see - it has been interesting to see it emerge as a rumour (was it four years ago when Cancellara was accused?) to some initial investigations to actual regulations and finally someone getting busted.
It obviously adds credence to those initial rumours (not specifically Spartacus, just that people had seen them) and the possibility of them actually being used at that time - these ideas likely did not come from nowhere (or they did, and perhaps influenced the emergence of the technology and its use... #occam'srazor).

That Cancellara vid was interesting as it really did look plausable with the hand movements/acceleration but then there was a whole scientific extrapolation of the visual effect of helicopter panning out/across etc. I like the sheer paranoia of the dudes that made the video tho-steel beams etc. -

Expecting a full fat (maybe not full Betancur..) blog post on this.

Did they check the bike afterward or was it raised much laters after the race?
-
• #111
Funnily enough if you check the blog there might be a new entry...
-
• #112
This is pre-bike checks and emerged some days/weeks after the race so don't think anything ever came of it. Obviously eyebrows though...

Getting away with it...
The acceleration without increased effort is superb in all these vids.
I think with scanners we should see a few 'inform' riders suddenly slide down the rankings...

I wonder whether the weight was listed durng the bike checks.
-
• #115
Like dreamy eyes riding away for the win in the cadel race !
-
• #116
Yeah but a couple of hundred grams extra isn't really going to raise eyebrows, especially at Roubaix/CX races when equipment tends to be beefier anyway to cope with the terrain.

Thank Goodness Bradley and Froome are already in the record books. #Justsayin :o)
-
• #118
Could that also mean the UCI might start to look at changing the min weight of the bike?
-
• #119
Therumour of Cancellera using motors has been a stink that just won't go away
-
• #120
Bikes are already lighter than UCI regulations, and additional weight/heavier components are used (power meters) because of this. Might as well use a motor. Win-win!

Dunno-I remember Contador being flagged at the Tour a few years ago because he changed his bike prior to a climb then again before the finish and people said it was because he'd switched to a lighter-illegal-bike, but someone on here said that the weight limit might be abolished anyway so no idea what that implies.

It could mean something like a min of 5.5kg so they don't have to add weight.
If a bicycles is at 7.5kg, alarm bell will start ringing.
So want to see a Benny Hill style out of control Pro rider too!
