@dammit - GR2 has some added bells and whistles but basically you have the same sensor and the same control layout as the GR. So if you can live without wifi exposure control (the GR already works well with eye fi cards) you'll probably be fine with the GR.

Your described use case is one of the two reasons I bought mine. The other is that it fits perfectly in a little dry bag in a jersey pocket.

Any particular model? The review I read of current one said (kind of between the lines) to either wait for the next one as this was a bit of a half-hearted update, or get an older model as that represented much better value for money.
