Indeed. I thought MuCEM was amazing, one of the most imaginative and well detailed new buildings I've seen for quite a while.
I agree with you about the 'jam tart', but then every building I've seen from Dubai so far seems to be the architectural equivalent of the saying 'money doesn't buy class'.

Anything? Literally anything that doesn't look like it's stuck in it. Multilayered modernist building with some sort of arched wall that rises from ground level and surrounding a portion of the building? Its next to water, could they not have played with that somehow? Marseille has some great new water front buildings.
