Yeah, they were doing fine! If I'm as active at that age I'll be a happy man.

So, unless you're from the middle ages and just starting out you'll be ok in lycra from 35-50? And after that get fat and speak in a German accent?

It appears to be on The '69 Los Angeles Sessions, end of side A. Discogs shows two copis of that album for sale at around $40 + shipping.
You could also try eBay for that album.

PDW Full Metal Fenders - do I need the 30mm to work with 700x28 tyres? Or bigger?
-
• #73956
I'm using them smaller ones with 28s. Not as much coverage, it's true, but I like the narrow look.

Ordered 30mm in matte black
Cheers

Any recommendations for a waterproofy bag to go on a porteur rack (rack is ~280x420mm)?
Ideally something with a padded base and a shoulder strap, and a couple of pockets, pref black.
Have seen the VO one...

...but wondering what else is out there for under £100 that people recommend. -

1x11 derailleur question. If you only have a single front ring, can you use a short cage mech where you would have otherwise needed a medium or long cage? I.e when using an 11-32 cassette
Shimano di2 6870 if that makes a difference.

Common misconception. The length of the cage doesn't limit the size of sprocket - the design of the derailure does. Length of cage only defines how much chain slack can be picked up.

Absolutely it does. Max tooth without bodging is 28t IIRC.

Capacity is likely fine but the 32 will probably be too big.

What he said.

Although an old school short cage RD won't actually take up all the slack on an 11-42 cassette :-)

You could still run it, you'd just end up with chain flapping around :)

• #73965
Will hunt out an rd6870gs in that case, thanks :)

rd6870gs
If you want something sexy and your wallet is bottomless, short cage XTR Di2 would do the job. I think.

Lol, this is very much a budget di2 build, just picked up some 6870 shifters for £80 (2nd hand obvs)
I have seen a few aftermarket long\medium 6870 mech cages so might swap the cage out if I come across a similarly cheap ss version.

6800 cages are the same parts as 6870, so you can hybridise a 6800gs with 6870ss to get the 6870gs you want and a 6800ss you can sell on.

Thanks Tester, that is useful information.

Can I bash the bearings out of SRAM jockey wheels and replace them? Worth it? Or should I just cough up for replacement wheels?
cyclocross kills them this time of year
-
• #73971
Worth it?
Not really, the bearing is 90% of the value of the assembly.
-
• #73972
Suspected so. Ta muchly.

If you had to choose, 3TTT Quid or Status quill stem?
-

3TTT Quid or Status
Buy the Status and send me the 5 quid :-)
Ageism and fattism aside, they're probably still pretty good riders.
