  • Which one did you get? I've looked at them for a while but have stuck to my very old school method as I'm not usually doing more than a dozen per year. Just sometimes it's 7 or 8 in a week.

  • The Souber DBB morticer (http://www.morticer.com/english/enghomepage.html)

I'm going back into access control subcontracting and this'll come in handy.

  • I think that was me. As I said then, standard bathroom fans are close to useless. Get a centrifugal one between the joists. My original post said more, if you can find it - I have no idea how to search my posts on this newfangled forum...

FWIW, extraction rate should be based on the size of room (at least it is for kitchen extractors, I don't see why bathroom extractors would be any different).

  • True, it should be able to recycle all the air in the room 4 times an hour.

  • Approved document F has all one needs

  • Can anyone recommend a good plasterer in South London? Need a ceiling boarding and skimming

  • Can tell you two to avoid ;)

  • i've fitted some new taps on the kitchen sink, exactly the same as the old ones except not dripping.
Now the shower never seems to get hot enough! its a combi boiler, I turned off all the water before I put the taps in. I've used the mixer on the shower to try to flush out any air bubbles.
Wagwan? cold(ish) showers are so depressing.

  • Doubt it is to do with the new taps where did you turn the water off? If it was at the feed to the boiler try turning the stopcock a bit to restrict the water entering the boiler. Also unlikely to be trapped air as it will be mains pressure.

  • Is there any earthly way to remove expanding foam residue? I've got a smear of it on some tiles and it won't come off. Nasty stuff

  • Expanding foam. The bodgers material of choice. There are products that dissolve it. Everbuild PUREX is supposed to.

  • If you changed the mains water pressure by opening the stopcock up fully where previously it had been less open, that could explain why you can't balance the cold and hot pressure in the shower.

Showers should always be thermostatic, life's too short to be pissing about with the shower controls.

  • awesome thanks, i'll try that stuff.

I am definitely a bodger too. was trying to fill some annoying gaps around the pipes where foul cooking fumes were coming up from the flat downstairs

  • might be this. I'll fiddle around with it.

  • giant.gfycat.com/EarnestEqualAlpinegoat.gif

    wow

  • Razor blade cleaner

  • Any recommendations for an electrician in North London? My lights have started flickering and appliances turning on and off which I'm pretty sure is a bad thing.

Electrics are fairly dated, consumer unit has plug-in MCBs so a rewire was probably on the cards at some point but it has obviously become a bit more of an issue now.

  • Saw a similar post earlier on Harringay Online. Either there's a problem in the area or you're the same person.

  • Ha, yes that's me.

  • Cheers. Hopefully I've got someone but will keep those in case.

I've got the numbers if you want to delete them.

  • Has anyone here installed/had installed a new composite front door? Ours is an old wooden thing that swells in the rain, meaning we can't use it reliably.

Getting them from a national glazing co. comes in at £1500 inc. installation (with Safestyle). However you can source/buy them online, without fitting, for ~ £650. Is it worth doing that and organising fitting sperately? Anyone done similar?

  • Washing machine playing up. Started it and it just seemed to whir for a bit, wouldn't fill and then it'd stop. No error blinkenlights.

Must be a pump problem so cleaned out the pump (a hair clip, some staples and a few coins, win!) but it still does it.

Funny, it's as if it's just draining like it was on the 'drain' programme (the programme directly opposite the one we usually use, so it wasn't obvious the selector was pointing the other way).

    Twat.

At least the pump is clean now.

  • just had a 150cm wide 205 cm high composite front door and side panel priced at £950 installed - out of town doe
