I collided with a left-turning car last night. I was going too fast and travelling too close. The driver didn't indicate to turn until too late or check her mirrors (by her own admission). I managed to get my skid parallel so that my right hip and arm took the impact rather than the front of my bike and my face. I ended up on the ground and with a surge of adrenaline got straight up as I was partially under the car and afraid of being run over. Driver was pretty shaken up and very apologetic. I was equally apologetic and embarrased. Somehow the only damage to my bike was a pinch flat, and the only damage to my corpus was some bloody knuckles and what appears to be a broken little finger. The damage to her car from the impact was quite noticeable. That, combined with the witness reactions, makes me wonder how I wasn't more hurt. We parted ways without exchanging any info and I declined the driver's offer to take me to hospital. We both agreed to be more careful in the future. I woke up feeling fine this morning, other than my slighly mangeled right hand. The gloves were a £1.99 TK Maxx purchase, and the best money I've ever spent.
