At least that is what the badge said

Nah, I just need a consciencectomy to stop me thinking about them.

Those green Porsche interiors are, if anything, even worse in the flesh. One of my opponents once turned up to court in a dark green 993 Targa with a green interior. Revolting.

Exhausts for old cars (volvo 240) - I can get a whole system online for 100 quid and fit it myself or get a it fitted at a shop for 150. is it worth this saving to do it myself, or will it take ages and be a right bastard?
-
• #26356
It will be a total cunt because every bolt will be rusted to fuck
-
• #26357
yeah thats what I thought. I've never done an exhaust though, and am curious. I'll pop it on the ramps at the weekend and have a look first.

Deffers a total bastard of a job. Rusted seized bolts everywhere. Unless you've got a proper lift, a decent oxy-acetylene kit and a large selection of bolt splitters and cut-off tools, it's well worth letting someone who does have all of that have a go. Welding and replacing exhausts are the only two jobs which have ended up with me setting myself on fire while working on cars.

Ha! Yeah that's what I've heard too. Just means waiting another month till I can afford it. Damn you xmas debts.

• #26360
You might be surprised at what Kwik Fit will do it for - I got a new box on the Rover SD1 I had for £75 fitted.
-

Our local Rik Fit (like quick fit but local) have quoted 150, the volvo place round the corner said at least 200. I need it all from the cat back I think. Or I can fix the brackets, try and plug the holes with a bit of holts exhaust stuff and hope it lasts long enough for me to sell it. It sounds ace though at the moment!

• #26362
Wait, it's £150 fitted or £100 online?
Couldn't you just get blowy bits repaired?
-
• #26363
Only gives itself away on very cold mornings! :)
-
• #26364
yep.
the blowy bits are right by the silencers I think, one in each. Don't know till I have a proper look.
-
• #26365
They are indeed. I guess the wood trim must have been an option.
-
• #26366
The 2 series exhaust is made up pipe work and the silencers separately, same as the 7 series. Does you car have a cat?
Have you got a blow lamp?
-
• #26367
They will just break.

Angle grinders are your friends.
You guys have not had the joy of having old cars and shoe string budgets.
-
• #26371
I'd have to get rid of that terrible sticker.
-
• #26372
Errr yep that's only about 130% over budget!
-
• #26373
And the ridiculous splitter, nailed-on wheel arches and ludicrous rear wing. And downsize the tyres to something sensible. Then it'd be quite nice, once you'd filled in the holes left from the bodykit having been nailed into place.
