I don't think that desirability can be entirely rationalised. Does a Chanel bag hold stuff better than one from Primark? A Kia will get me to work just the same as a Porsche.
Something about the brand gives it some kind of mystique or romance or whatever you want to call it, and this adds value. The world would be a very different place if we were rational with every purchase. Anyway, in my relatively uninformed opinion, they are a bit more unique than the other brands in terms of build style/paint etc, and are obviously mega to ride (again, from limited experience).
TLDR: They are fucking cool.
I'm going to look really silly if I'm caught up in some kind of in-joke here.
