True, I was mainly referring to that being what you're limited to: no 30mm spindles unless you want complex, short life bearings and the market is generally moving towards 30mm. BB30 can do any crank with good size bearings.
But I agree with eyebrows, bb30 for it's original intended purpose with c-clips and pressing them is generally a bit shit
Both have their merits, I'd be more inclined to go with the Cannondale if you get a good carbon post, bb86 on Giant's is annoying as you're essentially limited to GXP and Shimano cranks. If you don't mind that though, the Defy will probably ride better (I've ridden an advanced, not a composite, and a Caad10) and probably be lighter - but defy composite frame weights are hard to find
